Moodle is broken down into 13 main categories:
- Assignments - provides a way to assign tasks to students.
- Chat - allows users to go into a room at the same time and type text.
- Choice - provides a simple way to poll or survey students.
- Database - allows user to build, search, and display a series of records.
- Feeback & Questionnaire - allows user to present a series of questions.
- Forums - provides an environment that allows students and teachers to have endless discussions on any topic.
- Glossaries - allws user to create dictionaries and other reference collections.
- Lessons - allows teachers to present content and assess learning all in one activity.
- Quizzes - enables teachers to create online quizzes or a series of questions.
- Resources - primary tool for bringing content into courses.
- SCORM - allows teacher to upload any SCORM/AICC package into course.
- Wikis - enables documents to to be authored collectively in a simple markup language using a web browser.
- Workshop - designed to simplify the process of peer review.
